Geneva Boling passed away from a long illness on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at her home in Vinita.
She was born January 21, 1924 in an old Cherokee Indian Mansion near Pensacola, Okla., to Phena and James Foote of the Big Cabin area. Her parents preceded her in death.
Also preceding her are her husband of 65 years, Donald G. Boling, who passed away in May of 2009; three sisters, Olen Foote, Vera Huffman and Viola Potts.
She is survived by: one son, Ronald L. Boling and his wife Fern of Claremore; one daughter La Donna Sumner of Vinita; one granddaughter, DeYonna Bryant and husband Tim of Amarillo, Texas; three grandsons, Aaron Sumner and Shannon Sumner both of Vinita, and Michael Boling of Paris, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beulah Willits of Vinita.
Geneva was a member of the Utopia Baptist Church for 60 years, and was the longest surviving member. She served as Church Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Pianist and Organist. She loved her church dearly. She attended Utopia School a Mission Church under Big Cabin First Baptist for 29 years.
Geneva and Don worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City during World War II. They returned to the Big Cabin area after the war and ran a dairy and cattle farm for many years.
Don retired at age 50 and they both enjoyed RVing for many years and made friends all over the country.
They will both be dearly missed by their church and family. She loved her family and had a forgiving heart if any of her family did wrong. She loved to look nice and always dressed up whenever you saw her.
Services will be held at the Utopia Baptist Church on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Randy Thormon and assisted by Pastor Lin Jones.
Pallbearers will be Chris Curnutt, Daryl Curnutt, Curtis McLaughlin, Shannon Sumner, Aaron Sumner and Tim Bryant.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Anderson, Leroy Crow, Don Miller and Homer Weathers.
Burial will follow in the Gormley Cemetery.
